Today is Monday, isn’t it? Wait. No. That’s not right. Where did last week go? How long has it been since I last posted?
An oak leaf landed on my desk while I drank my coffee this morning. I don’t know where it came from.
It was green and firm, not brown and crinkled like one would expect.
There are no plants in our office, and there are definitely no oak trees. It couldn’t have flown in through the ventilation. It seems unlikely that a whole leaf could drift into the vent, travel along the vent shaft, pass the fans, and arrive on my desk.
Besides–our office is surrounded by pine, not oak.
I’ve pinned the leaf to my cubicle wall for now. I’m keeping it away from the duck, to be safe.
Word: astral
This is surreal. The ambiguity of whether the leaf exists or whether it is undead is making me giggle. Is this post literal? I don’t even care. The leaf is an anomaly just like you and your enjoyable writing style. This is rare. Trust me. I’ve read through a fuck ton of blogs.

Thanks. I start every blog (or arc) by saying one true thing and taking it to its most extreme. In the case of this entry, there was, in fact, a real leaf. It wasn’t an oak leaf, and it didn’t appear on my desk. Rather, it “appeared” on my boss’s desk. I started with the general idea and went from there.
And thanks for your kind words.

Oh dear God I HAVE to emulate this idea. Looooove that, take something real and go fucking nuts from there.

I find myself laughing out loud to myself every time I read something you’ve written. That’s meant as a compliment, love your style.

Thanks. I’ve been meaning to write a lot more–especially for this arc–but I keep getting called onto projects. I hope to have the next entry up tomorrow. Fingers crossed.
And thank you so much for the compliment. It means a lot to me, really. People like you are why I keep doing it.

Look forward to it. If your tomorrow is the same as my tomorrow. (I’m getting to the end of uni submissions, yay!)

Finished acting a show last week; shooting a film this week (behind the camera). It’s been one for the books, for sure. I hope the uni submissions go well!

I write full-time, but that sometimes means wearing all kinds of hats.

I just noticed this–if you take a look at the entry on 9.2, you can see how long the October 9th series has been in planning. I actually drafted the notebook entry that day.
